A Little Economy Humor

So times are tough right now for us all and laughter always seems to be the best medicine so here's a little medicine to cure us all from the economy blues!

  1. The economy is so bad... that I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail.
  2. The economy is so bad... that I ordered a burger at McDonalds and the kid behind the counter asked, "Can you afford fries with that?"
  3. The economy is so bad... that CEO's are now playing miniature golf
  4. The economy is so bad... that if the bank returns your check marked "Insufficient Funds," you call them and ask if they meant you or them.
  5. The economy is so bad... that Hot Wheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM.
  6. The economy is so bad... that McDonald's is selling the ¼ ouncer.
  7. The economy is so bad... that parents in Beverly Hills had to fire their nannies and learn their children's names.
  8. The economy is so bad... that a truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico .
  9. The economy is so bad... that Dick Cheney took his stockbroker hunting.
  10. The economy is so bad... that Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore.
  11. The economy is so bad... that the Mafia is laying off judges.
  12. The economy is so bad... that Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen.
  13. And finally... Congress says they are looking into this Bernard Madoff scandal. Oh Great!! The guy who made $50 Billion disappear is being investigated by the people who made $1.5 Trillion disappear!

*My personal favorites are 2, 7 and 8!

Much needed update

Ok so I really am trying to update this more but unfortunately life keeps getting in the way. Since my last actual update a lot has happened.

I finally had surgery on my shoulder on Oct 9th. The surgery went really well according to the doc. My labrum was torn but thankfully the rotater cuff was not. There was a lot of inflammation and scar tissue that needed to be cleaned out along with the labrum repair. A few hours in recovery and then home I went.

A week after surgery I started physical therapy which really is more like physical terrorism. Luck for me I know both of my pt's outside of therapy. One in fact is my neighbor (which is why I'm going there).
Even though I'm close to the end with all of this, the nightmare is not over and I've become even more grateful for my health insurance. Kaiser is so amazing. There is no waiting months for referrals to specialists, surgeries or pt.

Anyways the one good thing that has come out of this has been my new toy. It's also known as cyrotherapy unit. Basically its a square cooler with a pump in the top and a set of tubes. The tubes connect to a pad that velcros onto my shoulder. The effect is ice cold water constantly pumps into the pad. Its amazing and I get to keep the thing!

I was informed by the surgeon at my last visit on Tuesday that he is releasing me to go back to work effective immediately. Iit upsets me but also makes me laugh because I'm still taking pains killers, still using my cyro unit and have a left hand only work restriction. I had no idea that this was going to happen so I had already made plans to go to Santa Rosa with my family for Thanksgiving. So going back to work is going to have to wait until I get back.

In the meantime I'm down at my brother's place in Visalia until we leave for Santa Rosa on Wednesday. Wish me luck with surviving all of the craziness that will be the next week or two of my life. And now because the girls woke me up way early today, its nap time. Now if only my sister-in-law would turn down the tv...

It's a Great Pumpkin Blogspot!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

So I know I know, I really need to update but its way too late and I'm way too tired to do it right now. I'll try to do it tomorrow.

In the meantime, check out my pumpkin! I was helping my nieces carve pumpkins today and when they asked if Aunt Melissa was going to do one too I figured why not! Its been years but it was a lot of fun! To be honest I was more into it then them. If its been a while for you to, and you get a chance, I highly suggest you carve yourself a pumpkin!

Mobile Blogging?

Testing mobile blogging so here's Juliana!

Killers and Scalpels

So I'm heading to Sacramento on Tuesday to go see the Killers in concert at Arco (the Killers are a band, in case you're out of the loop) with my friend Tammi. We've been friends since 7th grade. She won free tickets and guess who she's taking!

So ya, headed up there and then since I got stiffed on hours at work this week, I'm going to hang out with the lovely Melissa Noelle (Elmer) Kaupanger, who I love so much, until Friday! then back to Fresburg for work on Saturday.

As far as work goes, I did interview for that promotion but didn't get it. Which honestly did not surprise me. It was a full time electronics sales position and there were some people from the electronics department that applied. No hard feelings though. I was told by the manager that there is a part time position available if I wanted to apply for that and I really thought about it but decided not to for now due to the fact that I should be having surgery in about a month.

The surgeon said I have a torn labrum and a potential rotater cuff tear. He won't know for sure on that one until he actually goes in and does the surgery. So I'm currently waiting on the workers comp people to approve the surgery so that it can be scheduled. Depending on what is wrong will depend on how long it takes for my shoulder to heal. In the meantime they moved me out of receiving for the time being since I have a 5 pound weight limit now and was constantly fudging my restrictions before. They have me out cashiering, which is actually what I was hired to do in the first place. And since I'm not actually working in my department right now I get really crummy hours because they have to give me something, but they don't have to give me much. This week is 14 hours, but I had to call in today because I was in too much pain. I hope this surgery gets approved and happens much sooner than later so I can get my life back!

In the meantime, at least I can have some fun with friends and get out of Fresno this week!

Soooooooo Long!

It's been sooooo long since I've been on here! Like almost a year. That's pretty horrible. I blame working retail. I know that only makes sense for like October 08 - January 09, but still, its too blame.

So much stuff is changing right now and I came on here tonight to look at someone else's blog and decided, hmmmmmm maybe it time for an update!

So here we go...

I'm still working part time at Sears in the receiving department. I love my job but I am applying for a position that would get me more hours and better pay. I've been at Sears a year now exactly. It's a really good place to work and I'm very grateful to have a job in this economy!

I'm currently living down in Clovis, CA with my parents soon but I will be moving back to Sacramento as soon as my right shoulder will allow me to. I got hurt 4 and a half months ago at work and I'm waiting to find out if I'm going to have surgery. Just another week or so and I should know something (finally!). The whole workman's comp thing has been a nightmare but my store has been really good about the whole thing.

I'm also changing my major in school. I am looking into going into the Police Academy next July so teaching is kind of out the window. I went on my first ride along last week and it was a great experience. I really can see myself as a police officer and loving it. A family friend is an officer down in Visalia and he's offered to take me again and also set me up with a female officer for a ride along so I can get her perspective on things. I'm really excited about this decision and am doing what I can at this point to get myself ready for it.

Speaking of getting myself ready, I started back at the gym today. Wow, that was an experience. I spent my time on an elliptical because with my shoulder, weights are not really an option last night. I was only on it for a half an hour, but my legs still feel like they're doing that motion! LOL.

Time for bed for me, but I'll leave you with a few pics...

This pic is from last summer, but its my brothers and I being our true selves and I love it!

My adorable twin nieces with no front teeth! They're getting so big!

The little one (as I refer to her) on her first day of Kindergarten 2 weeks ago! That is one kid happy to FINALLY be in school!

Oh and that Santa Cruz trip I was waiting to go on, well I finally went a few weeks after my last post and had an amazing time with one of my best friends.

I LOVE the beach!

The boardwalk

Ty relaxing on the "jacks" by the lighthouse as I took pictures.

Under the pier there were tons and tons of sea lions. We watched them for quite a while and even picked ourselves out...

Nothing is more beautiful than a sunset on the beach!
